The CPO program is designed for protection professionals intent on improving their individual security skills and who are comfortable with a self paced, home study, style of learning.

This program can be implemented into a classroom environment and be utilized to augment a present training program.

To earn the Certified Protection Officer (CPO) designation, candidates must study the Protection Officer Training Manual (POTM) and successfully complete a proctored final examination.

The Protection Officer Training Manual consists of 45 chapters authored by some of the security industry's leading professionals.

Level: It is intermediate-level training, intended for security professionals with experience.

Duration of the course: With normal study about 3-5 months. The course must be completed within 1 year

Re-certification: Two-year re-certification requirement will be required to re-certify on the two-year anniversary of their certification. (look at the re-certification document for details)

History of Security; Legal Aspects of Security; Field Notes & Report Writing; Emergency Planning Observation skills & memory; Terrorism and VIP Protection; Patrol techniques; Human relations; Safety; Interviewing techniques; Crowd & traffic Control; Stress management; Hazardous materials;

Crisis Intervention; Crime scene procedures; Security Awareness; Physical security planning;

Security Investigations; Basic alarm systems; Fire prevention and detection; Computer security;

Employee dishonesty; Explosive devices, bomb threats and search; Strikes, lockouts and labor relations; Procedures; The protection officer and the law.
